Austin Festival, Angelo Debarre Workshop, Sept 17
Description: Angelo will use a couple of standards from the manouche repertoire to illustrate the learning process of a tune in the Gypsy music community. The first part of the workshop will consist of learning the chord changes and the right comping feel for the given tune. The second part will address the development of a coherent solo which will demonstrate how the master builds his improvisations, uses Gypsy phrasing and how this transfers onto the fret-board in terms of positions, scales, and arpeggios. The workshop, translated from French to English by Patrick Berrogain, will be in easily understandable music terms. Saturday September 17, 2005, from 11 am to 1 pm.
